Ballardvale Community Yard Sale: New Dates!

We will have two different dates when sellers will be setting up: Saturdays May 28 & June 4, from 10:00 to 2:00 on our lawn.

Open to the community. If anyone would like to sell contact Erin Harrington at loveharrington @gmail.com or 978-944-7400. Sellers can bring their own table for free or rent one ($20 for an 8-ft table, $10 for a 4-ft table).

Our Relationship with the United Methodist Church

Our congregation is engaged in a process of discernment which could lead to our disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church.

We entered into this process in response to legislation enacted in February 2019 which upheld discriminatory language banning LGBTIA+ persons from serving in the United Methodist Church, and prohibiting pastors from officiating at same sex weddings. This legislation was the culmination of 50 years of discriminatory practices which began with the adoption of the phrase, "we do not condone the practice of homosexuality and consider this practice incompatible with Christian teaching."

At BVUC, our understanding of God’s inclusive love and human sexuality is in direct conflict with these policies and practices and therefore, we are not sure that we can continue to be a part of the UMC.

We have been asked to invite our community partners to attend one of two meetings with our congregation and District Superintendent, Rev. Megan Stowe, on Wednesdays, June 1st or 22nd, at 7:00pm. At those meetings, community members can discuss how our disaffiliation might impact our missions and ministries. These meetings are open to the public and are in-person or remotely via Zoom. To obtain the Zoom information, please contact the church office.

Psalm 23 Project

In Spring 2021, members and friends of our church community recorded videos reading Psalm 23. Here we bring back this video for sharing again!

Our Welcome Statement

We, as members of the Christian community known as the Ballard Vale United Church, believe that all persons are recipients of God's love and grace.

We try to follow Jesus's example of seeking to bring all to accept this love, forgiveness, and grace, and so direct our lives. We affirm the need to proceed compassionately and justly with each other.

Therefore, we welcome and affirm all persons who wish to participate in the fellowship and spiritual growth of this reconciling congregation and open and affirming church without regard to age, disability, economic status, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, or social standing. By this statement we anticipate becoming an even stronger and more loving Christian community.
